Nursery Class At Coquet Park

Who are we?

We’re the youngest in the school.  We are all 3 and 4 year olds joining Coquet Park for the first time.  We have our own entrance and playground because the big yard is too busy!  We come to Nursery in either the morning or the afternoon.

What do we do in class?

Our main aim in Nursery is to make new friends and have fun doing many different activities.  We follow the Foundation Stage for all of our activities.  We do lots of playing in the sand and water trays, at the playdough bench and on the painting easel.  We also have a home corner, book area and a writing table.  In Nursery there are lots of cars and trains to play with too.  We learn how to use the mouse and keyboard on the class computers.  We do lots of counting, games, singing, rhymes and stories with our teachers.  We learn to trace and some of us can write our own names.

In our first term we learn where we want to play and our way around the Nursery.  In our second term we plan where we and to play and what we want to play with.  We record this with Mrs Crainey and Mrs Jones in our ‘Plan, Do, Review’ books which we get to keep.  In our final term we make ‘Colour’ books and ‘I Can …’ books during small group time.

We have little walks around BIG school too – we learn where the art room and computer room is and also where you have your lunch.  We also look at the wildlife garden and pond.  Everyday is fun because we get to play outside with the bikes, scooters and prams.  We also have a caterpillar, a boat and a house which we play in too.
