Year 1 at Coquet Park

Who are we?

We are the 5 and 6 year olds in our second year of the main school.

What do we do in class?

The work we do in class is organised through different topics that follow National Curriculum objectives.  We do lots of practical work as well as written work in our books.  We also enjoy using the computer room and interactive white board in our lessons.

Once a week we do guided reading.  This is where we work with our group and read with our teacher, most of the time we will read a book and talk about it.  Sometimes we will play games to help us develop our reading skills.  We will still get books to read at home.  These will be changed and handed out every Friday.  After the autumn half term we will also have spellings to learn.

What about P.E. and Library?

Our P.E. days are Monday and Thursday.  We will need our P.E. shoes in the summer term as we go outside for games lessons.  After Christmas we go swimming on Tuesday mornings.

On Tuesday we visit our school library and choose a book to bring home for the week.
